Projects
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with talented teams on projects from open-source libraries to large-scale applications.
#
I’ve been a core maintainer of Next.js since 2020, working closely with the React team. I led the development of Streaming SSR, Edge Runtime, React Server Components, Server Actions and other architectural improvements (full contribution list). I also designed and built the Next.js website in 2018.
#
I co-created v0 with Jared Palmer, Max Leiter, and shadcn in 2023, helped design its architecture, and implemented parts of the core AI, streaming, rendering pipeline and Design Mode.
#Vercel AI SDK
I designed the first client-side hook APIs and implemented function calling, RSC and data APIs for AI SDK. I also built the initial AI playground and documentation site.
#
I joined Vercel in 2018 as one of the earliest engineers. Notable work includes: Fast Image Generation, Analytics Visualizations, Dashboard Performance Improvements, Project-Level Git Integration, Custom Production Branch, Usage Dashboard, Advanced Project Settings, Monorepo Pipeline, Deploy Button, Dashboard Redesign, etc.
#React Best Practices
I created React Best Practices in 2026, a framework of 40+ performance rules for React and Next.js, for developers and AI agents (announcement).
#
I created SWR with Guillermo Rauch in 2019 as the first hook-based, stale-while-revalidate data fetching library. Evil Rabbit and Paco Coursey designed the delightful SWR logo.
#Satori
Satori is the first CSS-to-SVG render engine that doesn’t need a browser. I created it in 2021 for Vercel’s OG Image Generation.
Balancing size, performance and compatibility, Satori has become the standard way to generate social cards in Web frameworks such as Next.js, Nuxt.js, SvelteKit, Astro, and more.
#COBE
COBE is perhaps the smallest (5kB) 3D globe for the web, with a minimal style. I made it in 2021 to speed up Vercel’s homepage (story), and it has become a popular choice for many websites.
#GPU Lexer
GPU Lexer is a neural network-powered syntax highlighter that leverages WebGPU for fast lexing in the browser, and it's language-agnostic.
#
Nextra is one of the most popular Next.js-based documentation solutions; before it, Next.js had no good option. I created it in 2020 and led Nextra v2 in 2022, which powers many of my projects’ homepages.
#React Wrap Balancer
React Wrap Balancer was created in 2022 to improve typesetting on the Vercel blog, and was later ported to Vue and Svelte. I believe it helped push forward the CSS standard text-wrap: balance.
#Next View Transitions
In 2024, I created Next View Transitions as the View Transitions API was becoming stable.
